What's the status of women working in theater in the Rocky Mountain region? That's a question Angela Astle had.

Astle is the executive producer and founder of the Athena Project, a Denver organization focused on the artistic contributions of women. While previous studies had been done on this topic, Astle says she wanted a more accurate picture of the Rocky Mountain region. She worked with researchers from Klein Buendel, a communication research and multimedia development firm, and commissioned a study that surveyed the racial and gender makeup of playwrights, managers and directors at theater organizations in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.

Astle spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel.
