U.S. Rep. Ken Buck has been elected chairman of the Colorado Republican Party for the next two years.

The Denver Post reports that Buck was selected among four candidates on the fourth ballot Saturday by the state GOP's central committee.

Buck, of Windsor, says he will not resign from Congress, where he has represented the state's eastern third since 2015. He has pledged to appoint former party chairman Steve House to be the party's chief executive officer.

Buck will be tasked with stopping his party's downward electoral slide in the state. His tenure will overlap with the high-profile 2020 re-elections bids of President Donald Trump and U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner, two Republicans who will have a hard time in a state that has shifted more to the Democrats recently.
