This week the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, announced the federal government would rollback emissions standards for automobiles. Under current rules adopted during the Obama Administration, cars and light trucks sold in the United States must average more than 50 miles per gallon by 2025. Pruitt said the move was part of President Trump’s “deregulation” agenda. Will Toor of the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project tells Colorado Matters he opposes the move, and believes it will hurt Coloradans in their wallets and in diminished air quality.
