You might be surprised to learn that cable in Colorado predates MTV, going all the way back to the 1950s. The late Colorado cable pioneer Bill Daniels set out to lay cable from Denver to Wyoming. Cable was soon at the center of the household Internet boom. Today, the industry accounts for more than 77,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state, though it's increasingly facing competitive pressures. Larry Satkowiak, president and CEO of The Cable Center in Denver, is the author of "The Cable Industry: A Short History Through Three Generations." He spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
