Chris Coleman, the new artistic director at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ Theater Company, tells us that early in his career he encountered a tough critic: his mother. While he didn’t always welcome her feedback, she had a big effect on his work.
Three decades after founding his own theater company, Coleman made the move to Colorado and a multi-million-dollar a year operation. We talk with Coleman about his mom’s influence on him as a child in Georgia, his work at a smaller company in Oregon called Portland Center Stage, how he’ll set his own priorities after Kent Thompson who spent 12 seasons at the helm.
