photo: takedaColorado native and Denver resident Scott Takeda is breaking through in Hollywood. After a decade of hard work, Takeda is appearing often on big and small screens. He is in the new AMC series “Halt and Catch Fire” that premiered on Sunday. And this fall he’ll be seen in “Gone Girl,” starring Ben Affleck. "Gone Girl" is based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn.

Acting is Takeda's second career. He got his start primarily behind the camera, in TV news. He worked in several markets including KCNC in Denver. But, eventually he wanted to be in front of the camera.

His acting career began to take off a few years ago; he had a small role in the 2013 Oscar-nominated film "Dallas Buyers Club," starring Matthew McConaughey. Other movie credits include “Everything Must Go” with comedic actor Will Ferrell and “Little Fockers” with the Robert De Niro.

He says acting and journalism are both tough career tracks. His best advice, he says, is to follow one's heart -- it takes a lot of passion to make it in either field.
