Happy 101st to Denver music legend Charlie Burrell

Charlie Burrell in the CPR Classical studios Friday Nov. 1, 2019. Burrell began his orchestral career with the Denver Symphony in 1949, becoming the first African American to sign a permanent contract with a U.S. orchestra. He turned 101 years old on October 4, 2021.

Denver bassist Charlie Burrell celebrated his 101st birthday with a visit to the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2017.
