Army officer Matt Cavanaugh, of Manitou Springs, gave one of his kidneys to a stranger and harnessed the power of a donor chain to get others to follow suit. Earlier this year, the Lieutenant Colonel cold-called Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland. They took down the request and eventually took him up on the offer.
