Snow blanketed the University of Colorado Boulder campus on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. Students were allowed to return to some dorms and in-person classes earlier this month.

A new University of Colorado Boulder study found that only a fifth of students in their dorms whose roommates got COVID-19 also became infected. Kristen Bjorkman, CU Boulder's COVID scientific director explains the results and how they could influence the university's ongoing response to the pandemic. She also talks about what it means that this paper is a preprint that hasn't yet gone through the peer-review process and gives advice on how the public can read pre-published research carefully.
