A new study says kids who live in poor neighborhoods have 20 to 60% higher odds of being overweight or obese than kids in richer neighborhoods. There are a lot of reasons for that. A major one, though, is that streets in poor neighborhoods are generally less safe, so parents are less likely to let their kids walk places, including to school. We visit two Denver area neighborhoods - in Aurora and Commerce City - where parents and school officials have joined together to help create safer walking routes to school, for kids.
