The 1,000-year-old Arikaree Glacier in the mountains west of Boulder is melting. Scientists think it could be gone in 25 years. That's raising concerns about the future of Colorado's water supply. A new study produced by the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research says glaciers and other icy areas in the state are like having an insurance policy for water in dry years.
University of Colorado Boulder geography professor Mark Williams is the lead author of the study. He spoke with Colorado Matters host Andrea Dukakis.
