New state law helps survivors of domestic violence navigate the legal process

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. And a new state task force is looking into ways to better support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and related crimes as they go through the legal system in Colorado. House Majority Leader Monica Duran of Wheat Ridge co-sponsored the legislation to create the task force. Duran told Colorado Matters host Chandra Thomas Whitfield in April that the legislation is especially personal because she's a domestic violence survivor herself.
