Denver native Austin Wintory, 29, has composed 45 feature film scores and the music for a dozen video games. His score for the Playstation game "Journey" was the first ever video game score to be nominated for a Grammy Award in the Grammy's 55-year history.
Wintory joins Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner in the studio to discuss his inspiration for that score.
He also talks about his musical hero, film score composer Jerry Goldsmith; and how he introduced babies crying and floorboards squeaking into a movie score.
Wintory conducts his piece, Journey, with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, November 16. It's part of a concert called "A Hero's Journey: A Symponic Tribute to Comic Con."
