NASA’s uncrewed Orion spacecraft snapped this black and white photo of Earth on Nov. 17, 2022, the second day of the Artemis I mission.

The Orion spacecraft splashed down last weekend after more than 25 days in space. Colorado’s Lockheed Martin Space Systems played a big role in the vehicle’s design and construction. Lockheed engineer Mark Baldwin helped prepare Orion for the challenges of space. The voyage was the first in NASA’s Artemis project, which aims to send astronauts to establish a permanent base on the Moon.
