"Bah-humbug!" Actor Philip Pleasants will utter that famous phrase from the stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" for the last time ever this year. He has played the curmudgeonly Ebenezer Scrooge for almost four decades, including the past 10 years with Denver Center for the Performing Arts casts. Pleasants says he's ready to move on after his last performance on Dec. 27 at the Stage Theatre in downtown Denver, and to make way for Sam Gregory, who is well-known to local audiences. Pleasants says this is not a retirement from the stage, only the role of Scrooge.

He spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner. Click the audio above to listen to the full conversation.
