When Kwame Spearman was growing up in Denver, he loved visiting the Hue-Man bookstore in Five Points because the characters in the books on the shelves looked like him.

Before it closed in 2000, Hue-Man was the only Black-owned bookstore in Denver. The owner, Clara Villarosa, was on a mission to provide diverse literature to the community. She went on to open a Hue-Man in New York City, as well.

Now, Spearman owns the Tattered Cover and he's teaming up with Villarosa to bring the Hue-Man experience BACK to Denver. The two spoke with Ryan Warner.
