The Ku Klux Klan was prominent in Colorado during the Prohibition era. Among its members: high state and municipal officeholders, including, for years, Denver Mayor Benjamin Stapleton.

Historian Robert Goldberg, a professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. His new book, "The Hooded Empire: The Ku Klux Klan in Colorado," details Stapleton's relationship, and others, with the group.

As we reported earlier, there are now efforts by Denver Black Lives Matter activists to change the name of a neighborhood bearing Stapleton's name. Goldberg spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel about the book. Click the audio above to listen to the full interview.
