The second wolf killed by an outfitter and his son in 2020 was first observed when the hunters were passing through this gate, which marks the state line separating Wyoming and Colorado.

A wolf pack that migrated into Northwest Colorado is now gone. Most of those Moffat County wolves were shot just across the Wyoming border. The killings prompted state and federal investigations. Mike Koshmrl, a reporter with the nonprofit news site WyoFile, got the details of those investigations through a Freedom of Information Act request. He even spoke to a Coloradan who hunted some of those wolves. Koshmrl talked with Ryan Warner about his findings.
