The top state elections official was in Colorado Springs today to hear citizen feedback on last month’s election. As KRCC’s Liz Ruskin reports, an obvious partisan divide emerged.

Republicans complained to Secretary of State Scott Gessler that ineligible people could have voted, or that people may have voted twice. The Democrats in the crowd said the REAL problem is obstacles to voting. El Paso County Democrat Mike Maday also suggested Gessler needed to show more neutrality.

We were observing you going to organizations like True the Vote and other conservative voter related action groups during the election campaign and speaking to those groups, and to me that’s … not an appropriate tone to set for a chief elections officer of the state.

Gessler, a Republican, he says he goes where he’s invited, regardless of a group’s ideology. But he says Democrats tend not to invite him. The meeting was part of a "listening tour" Gessler is taking with the aim of improving the integrity of elections. He asked people to send him details about alleged election abuses.
