Monday

CPR Classical will feature its 2013 Retrospective, a look at the year's biggest stories in classical music. The program includes tributes to Don Ambler and other important names in local music who passed away this year.

TUESDAY

Colorado Spotlight will not air. Instead, we'll bring you our annual New Year's Eve Beethoven Bash. From 6 p.m. to midnight, we'll play all nine Beethoven symphonies.

Wednesday

The Colorado Music Festival Chamber Players perform Mozart's “Grand Partita.”

Thursday

UPDATE: Holst's "The Planets" performed by Colorado Music Festival. (This replaces a scheduled encore broadcast of the Colorado Symphony that has been cancelled due to technical problems.)

Friday

Pianist Emanuel Ax gives a solo recital Sunday with the Friends of Chamber Music. On Friday's show we'll hear music from his last appearance on the series. The program:

  • Frédéric Chopin: Scherzo No. 1 in B minor, Op. 20
  • Frédéric Chopin: Scherzo No. 2 in B flat minor, Op. 31
  • Frédéric Chopin: Scherzo No. 3 in C sharp minor, Op. 39
  • Frédéric Chopin: Scherzo No. 4 in E major, Op. 54
  • Claude Debussy: “Clair de lune” from Suite Bergamasque
SUNDAY

Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director Michael Butterman talks about their next concert. We hear music from a previous season: The Colorado Saxophone Quartet performing "Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Orchestra" by Philip Glass.
