Sunday through Friday nights at 7, Charley Samson is your connection to the music, voices and happenings of Colorado's classical music community. This week on Colorado Spotlight:
CPR Classical will feature its 2013 Retrospective, a look at the year's biggest stories in classical music. The program includes tributes to Don Ambler and other important names in local music who passed away this year.
Colorado Spotlight will not air. Instead, we'll bring you our annual New Year's Eve Beethoven Bash. From 6 p.m. to midnight, we'll play all nine Beethoven symphonies.
The Colorado Music Festival Chamber Players perform Mozart's “Grand Partita.”
UPDATE: Holst's "The Planets" performed by Colorado Music Festival. (This replaces a scheduled encore broadcast of the Colorado Symphony that has been cancelled due to technical problems.)
Pianist Emanuel Ax gives a solo recital Sunday with the Friends of Chamber Music. On Friday's show we'll hear music from his last appearance on the series. The program:
Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director Michael Butterman talks about their next concert. We hear music from a previous season: The Colorado Saxophone Quartet performing "Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Orchestra" by Philip Glass.
