When Colorado Public Radio (CPR) launched OpenAir 1340 on October 31, 2011, the goal was simple: serve music enthusiasts who want to explore and discover something new while showcasing today’s thriving generation of talented Colorado musicians.

In honor of our first birthday in October of 2012, several Colorado artists joined forces to celebrate OpenAir with two very special collaborative in-studio performances.

Our two "super-sessions" featured the likes of solo artists like Scott McCormick and Mike Marchant and band members from Achille Lauro, The Swayback, Wheelchair Sports Camp, Faceman, Eldren, and more!

“This is the perfect way to celebrate our first birthday,” said Mike Flanagan, OpenAir program director. “Since we launched, more than 80 bands, most of which have local ties, visited CPR’s Performance Studio to record their music and share insight with OpenAir hosts. We credit Colorado’s wealth of talented musicians as a key reason why OpenAir had such a fantastic first year.”
