Arapahoe Philharmonic concert features Tchaikovsky, Brahms

Photo: Josiah Hamill headshot, horizontal cropThe Arapahoe Philharmonic on Friday performs a program of Tchaikovsky and Brahms titled “Classic Traditions” that will showcase a talented young violinist.

The orchestra will play Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, with Josiah Hamill as the featured soloist, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2.

Hamill, a student at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, won the 2014 T. Gordon Parks Collegiate Concerto Competition, sponsored by the Arapahoe Philharmonic.

Friday’s concert, conducted by music director Devin Patrick Hughes, starts at 7:30 p.m. at Mission Hills Church, 620 South Park Drive in Littleton.
