Grand Junction athletes race Beethoven to benefit orchestra

Image: Beat Beethoven 5k in Grand Junction logo(Image: Courtesy Grand Junction Symphony)A new 5K race in Grand Junction will see participants running with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony as their soundtrack in a fundraiser for the Grand Junction Symphony.

The Beat Beethoven 5K starts at 9 a.m. Saturday outside the Avalon Theater, with CPR Classical providing the backing music. Host Jean Inaba will play the famous opening passage at 9 a.m. sharp, with loudspeakers along the race course blasting the music.

Runners will have about 30 minutes to complete the race through downtown Grand Junction before the final notes play.
