
With two of the region’s youth orchestras set to perform this Sunday, we invited some of their talented young musicians to play in the CPR Performance Studio and guest-DJ on CPR Classical.
Denver Young Artists Orchestra will perform at the Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras will play Macky Auditorium at 2 p.m. that day.
Listen at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week to hear some of Colorado’s finest teen musicians from these two groups take turns as guest DJs on CPR Classical.
Wednesday:
We’ll hear Sarah Switzer of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra performing a movement from Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D in the CPR Performance Studio. She’ll also share some of her favorite recordings of Dvorak and Rimsky-Korsakov.
Switzer is the featured DYAO concerto competition winner at Sunday's concert. Here’s footage of her playing Tchaikovsky at CPR:
Thursday:
Sam Jarvis of Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras performs music from J.S. Bach’s Violin Concerto in E and shares some favorite Mozart and Tchaikovsky recordings.
Jarvis won the GBYO concerto competition and will play music from the Bach concerto during Sunday's program.
Friday:
Jesse Fischer of Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras performs Giovanni Bottesini’s Double Bass Concerto No. 2 and plays his favorite recordings from Bach and Beethoven.
Fischer is also a GBYO concerto competition winner and will be featured playing the Bottesini concerto on Sunday.
We’ll also hear a performance by harpist Rebecca Moritzky of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. Here’s footage of Moritzky playing in the CPR Performance Studio:
