The Colorado Court of Appeals found Douglas Bruce, known as the author of the Colorado Taxpayer's Bill of Rights, remains guilty of tax evasion and other crimes, reports the Grand Junction Sentinel.

In 2012, Bruce was convicted of tax evasion, attempting to influence a public servant and filing a false tax return, reports the Denver Post. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and six years of probation.

The three-judge panel at the appeals court ruled unanimously on the seven points of Bruce's appeal, wrote the paper. The ruling said in part that the evidence suggested that Bruce delayed responding to the Colorado Revenue Department's initial inquiry "to create a statue of limitations defense."
