Matisyahu In Denver For ADL Award After Spanish Controversy

Two months ago, Jewish-American musician Matisyahu was dropped from the Rototum Sunsplash festival lineup after he reportedly refused to endorse a Palestinian state. The Anti-Defamation League will honor Matisyahu in Denver today for his actions.

International public outcry, criticism from government officials and negotiations with the artist prompted organizers of the Spanish reggae festival to reverse their decision, and Matisyahu did perform at the event in August.

"I have always believed in the power of music to unite all people, regardless of religion, politics or geography," Matisyahu said in a statement on Facebook.

ADL officials said Matisyahu was targeted by the international boycott against Israel known as the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement.

Matisyahu will also perform at the Denver Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on Sunday.
