Before his band's two-night New Year's Eve stint at the Gothic Theatre, Alex Maas of The Black Angels visited OpenAir for a solo acoustic set in the CPR Performance Studio.

The Austin, Texas, band is known for its energetic psychedelic rock live shows. Maas's performance in our studio was significantly more laid back.

He played three Black Angels songs and spoke with host Alisha Sweeney about past New Year's Eve shows in Denver, working on the follow up to 2013's "Indigo Meadow" album and founding the Levitation festival in Austin.

Stream the session at the audio link above and watch video below.

Songs performed:

  • "I'd Rather Be Lonely"
  • "Melanie's Melody"
  • "Diamond Eyes"
