Tourism appears to be a big driver of recreational sales, and travel to Denver falls a lot in the winter months. But there appears to be a bit of a bump around the holidays.
Just 64 percent of hotel rooms were full in November. When pot sales peaked, 85 percent of rooms were filled.
Still, when final numbers for 2015 come in, pot sales for both medical and recreational pot will fall just short of $1 billion. And the state will collect close to $140 million in taxes and fees.
