About 20,000 people ride a bus on Colfax between Denver and Aurora daily. That demand is expected to increase as population grows. So Denver transportation planners propose creating bus-only lanes for morning and afternoon drive times.

The system would run similar to one already in use in the Broadway-Lincoln Corridor.

Planners acknowledge the restricted lanes could increase travel time for drivers but say they can take 13th and 14th avenues instead of Colfax.

Denver’s meeting will be held Wednesday at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Aurora’s will take place Thursday at North Middle School. Both start at 5:30.
