The Coloradoan reports that the park was the fifth-most visited national park for 2014, but it jumped to the third-place spot after surpassing Yellowstone and Yosemite national parks last year. Rocky Mountain now only falls behind the Great Smokey Mountains and the Grand Canyon for 2015 visitation.

A National Park Service release says Rock Mountain National Park, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, is one of 57 national park sites across the country that set new visitation records in 2015.

The National Park Service reported 307 million visits to its sites last year, a nearly 5 percent increase from 2014.
