Typhoon released its fourth album last Friday -- the same day the Portland, Ore., band played a set in our performance studio. "Offerings" tells the story of a man losing his memory over 14 songs in four distinct parts, as songwriter Kyle Morton recently described to NPR Music.
The single "Rorschach" is indicative of Typhoon's dark new sound on the album. The octet builds intense layers of guitar, strings and noise that take unexpected turns. Morton's narrator delivers bleak lines like: "I’m trying to stay sane / Meanwhile the river of forgetfulness starts spilling the banks."
