Striking teachers and school officials are set to meet Saturday morning in Pueblo in hopes of ending a strike that has shut down most schools in the southern Colorado city for five days.

Both sides plan to discuss the latest offer from the district but no details of the proposal have been released.

Teachers went on strike Monday over the district's refusal to give them a 2 percent cost of living increase for the school year that's nearly over. They have previously rejected offers of a one-time stipend payment for this year and deferring raises until the next school year, when the district will get more state funding.

After three years of small raises, the district has said it wouldn't be responsible to dip into its reserves to fund another.
