Watch: Van Cliburn Silver Medalist Kenny Broberg Plays Debussy, Schubert

· Jul. 12, 2018, 4:51 am

The latest session comes from Kenny Broberg, a 24-year-old pianist from Minneapolis who delighted us with his rendition of Claude Debussy's "Golliwog's Cakewalk," which you can watch in the video above.

Broberg visited CPR following sessions with 2017 gold medalist Yekwon Sunwoo, who played music by Franz Liszt, and bronze medalist Daniel Hsu, who played Chopin.

Broberg hails from a largely nonmusical family, according to his bio. He began studying piano at age 6 when he became fascinated with an upright piano in his family's home. His dedication to the instrument ultimately led to his capturing the silver medal at the 2017 Cliburn competition.

Broberg's CPR session included a second piece, Franz Schubert's lyrical Impromptu in G-flat Major. Watch it below.
