John Hickenlooper is throwing a party, and you're invited.

An organization affiliated with the former Colorado governor has applied to rent out Civic Center Park next Thursday, March 7.

What for? The only reason listed is "celebration." Look over the application here.

An entity under the name "JHFP Inc." filed the request for the downtown park, which sits in between two of Hickenlooper's former offices: the Denver City and County Building and the state Capitol.

The "community gathering" is free and open to the public. While food will be available for sale, the brewery owner-turned-politico will not be offering booze.

The permit application comes days after the former governor's third trip to Iowa and months of presidential rumors.

The 67-year-old would enter the race with a team of specialized staff, state directors, financial directors and pollsters said to be at the ready, as well as some cash in hand. The Associated Press reported that Hickenlooper's leadership PAC, Giddy Up, has raised $1 million.

Hickenlooper would stand to join a field of more than a dozen other Democrats who are already officially in the race.
