Peeling the Onion: Digging Down to Original Sources

by Dr. Gary Ball-Kilbourne
7 p.m., via Zoom

Board for Certification of Genealogists' Genealogy Standards 38 and 58 strongly express a preference for using original sources. Diligent researching and a few tricks of the trade enable genealogists to find original sources that underlie authored narratives and derivative sources.

Gary Ball-Kilbourne, CG, is a genealogical researcher, teacher, and writer. He is a trustee for the Board for Certification of Genealogists and serves as the editor of BCG’s publication, OnBoard. He has written articles for the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Maryland Genealogical Society Journal, and Minnesota Genealogist. His research interests range from his current location in the Northern Plains, to colonial Connecticut, Maryland, and New Sweden, and to England, Germany, and Hungary.
