Event Description

The Past, Present & Future of Rodeo in Colorado Springs
2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Spencer Penrose elevated rodeo into the major leagues in Colorado Springs in 1937 with the founding of the Will Rogers Rodeo. In 1938 the Will Rogers Stadium was built across from the Broadmoor Hotel for the enjoyment of locals and hotel guests alike. Changing through the years, it became the Colorado Springs Rodeo and then the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, but support of and by the local community has always remained the core principle. Since 1946, the proceeds of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo have been utilized to help support service members and their families in the Pikes Peak Region. Join us as we celebrate the City’s 150th and discuss what Rodeo in Colorado Springs means today.
