Tune in to the Colorado Art Report, CPR's weekly arts show hosted by Chloe Veltman, for in-depth coverage of the Colorado culture scene.
On this week's show:
- 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the First World War. With the Great War’s centennial at hand, Chloe Veltman revisits her conversation with Jamie Melissa Wilms, education director at the Molly Brown House in Denver, about a current photography exhibition that highlights Margaret Brown’s post-WWI relief efforts in France.
- A 160 million-year-old petrified tree on display at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science traveled halfway across the globe from China to Colorado. CPR reporter Leslie McClurg follows the tree’s global trek and unlocks secrets from ancient times.
- Following Denver’s launch of the Imagine 2020 plan, Boulder is set to debut its own cultural initiative. In light of these recent developments, Chloe Veltman looks back on her interview with Denver Arts and Venues executive director Kent Rice and Charles Landry, an expert on the relationship between cities and creativity.
- CPR arts reporter Corey H. Jones heads up to Durango to capture the sights and sounds of one of the city’s top tourist attractions, the Durango Blues Train. There, he discovers how the city is expanding its cultural offerings beyond the railroad.
- More than 200 barbershop singers will blend harmonies this weekend for the 65th annual Barbershop Harmony Festival at Chautauqua Auditorium. Premium Blend, a Boulder-based vocal quartet, shared one of its popular tunes with CPR in anticipation of the festival.
CPR's the Colorado Art Report airs on Fridays at 10.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Tune in live or access online at any time.
