Colorado Springs Celebrates Its Sesquicentennial!
The state’s second largest city, Colorado Springs, celebrates its sesquicentennial on Saturday, July 31, meaning it was founded 150 years ago. There were already people there; Garden of the Gods for example, was considered a sacred space for Indigenous people. But in 1871, Colorado Springs was born. KRCC Managing Editor Andrea Chalfin joins us with insight into then and now.
The official celebration of Colorado Springs' sesquicentennial kicks off Saturday with a Parade through Time starting at 11:00 a.m. in downtown, followed by a festival that also honors the Olympics.
