Restaurants have struggled during the pandemic. Now, a Colorado Springs institution joins those that couldn't outlast the upheaval. El Taco Rey announced its closure on Facebook Thursday afternoon, thanking customers for 45 years. Customers like our former producer, Xandra McMahon, who introduced Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner to the family-run restaurant two years ago, just before the first pandemic restrictions took effect.
