"The Holly" is a documentary film that centers around a shooting in 2013 and contends that Denver police have used active gang members to run the city's anti-gang programs. The story is rooted in a section of Northeast Denver that was once the home of the city's civil rights movement. The film recently won a national Emmy. It will air on Rocky Mountain PBS Aug. 7 and is now streaming on Prime and Apple Plus. CPR's Andrea Dukakis spoke with the director, Julian Rubinstein in 2022, who wrote a book by the same name.
