Boots, warm clothes and travel-sized hygiene products are handed out alongside food at Christmas in the Park.

Everyday at noon, chimes ring at Denver City Hall. Near Civic Center Park, several dozen people line up, where Pastor Jerry Herships and volunteers hand out a paper bag lunch.

The line will be much longer and the meal heartier on Christmas Day. The 10th annual Christmas in the Park also offers boots, warm clothes, travel-sized toiletries, and other necessities.

Herships talked with Colorado Matters about the daily service project, and how people can help out on Christmas or any day afterward. More volunteer information available at afterhoursdenver.org.
