About half of all donated organs come from living donors. Until now, hospitals didn’t necessarily monitor those donors after surgery, and so knowledge about the long-term risks of living organ donation is spotty. New federal rules passed this month should change that. Brad Kornfeld of Englewood is a living organ donor; he donated a kidney to his father. The advocate for the new rules speaks with CPR’s Andrea Dukakis.
