Bottom of the ninth inning. Bases loaded. Two outs. Two strikes. It's the beginning of every baseball player's dream of glory, and for Chicago Cubs rookie infielder David Bote, it came true. Bote hit a grand slam in an Aug. 12 game against the Washington Nationals, turning it around at the last minute to a 4-3 victory.
It turns out the new hero for young Chicago baseball fans got his start at Faith Christian High School in Longmont. David Bote's head coach was his older brother Danny, and one of his assistant coaches was his father, Bob Bote. Both David and Bob Bote talked to Colorado Matters about their family's relationship with the national pastime and David's journey to The Show.
