A new year presents a new opportunity to invest and grow your money. As part of Colorado Matters' series on personal finance and financial literacy, Shawn Spruce, a consultant with the First Nations Development Institute in Longmont, offers guidance for people who want to start investing in stocks, bonds or other instruments.

Spruce teaches financial literacy classes at the Denver Indian Center, among many other places, and he hosts a national radio program called Native America Calling. He spoke with Colorado Matters Senior Host Ryan Warner.
