We’ll find out in the next couple of weeks whether Southern Sudan will break away and form its own country. That may seem far removed from the U.S. let alone Colorado. But for Denver resident Daniel Majok Gai he’s watching these developments closely. He’s from Southern Sudan and he fled the region years ago to escape the ongoing civil war. He’s known as one of the Lost Boys of Sudan. More than nine years ago he was resettled in Denver, became a U.S. citizen and recently graduated college. Gai talks with Sadie Babits and says he’s been waiting for the day when Southern Sudan would try and become a recognized country.
