This is the first day of the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo. One of the many contests this year is “duck quacking.” The reigning queen in this event is a bird named Chatty Kathy, the winner of the first duck-quacking contest, in 2011. She’s since retired from competition, but her record still stands. Her owner is Sue Hardy, who lives in Fowler, between Pueblo and Rocky Ford in southern Colorado. Ryan Warner speaks with Hardy about the contest and the secret to having such a chatty duck. Hardy explained that the competing ducks are all placed into a row of special cages for the timed event.
