Barbara Evert was the very picture of an outdoorsy Coloradan. She road biked, climbed all the state's 14ers, and loved to backpack in foreign countries. Evert was a math teacher. She brought her classroom skills to the Colorado Mountain Club, where, for a time, she led the climbing school. Evert died last month at age 77 on a hike in the Grand Canyon. One of her long-time climbing partners was Karen Hickey, who spoke with Ryan Warner.
