Cities in the West were developed on a fluke. You read that in the opening pages of the new book “Dam Nation: How Water Shaped The West And Will Determine Its Future.” What author Stephen Grace means by “fluke” is that, when pioneers started settling the West, they came during an exceptionally wet time. Add to that the fact that climate change means things are getting even drier here now, and, well, you see the problem the West faces with water as more people move here. “Dam Nation" is up for a Colorado Book Award this year. Stephen Grace speaks with Ryan Warner.
