Burned homes in Superior, the morning after a raging wildfire whipped up by high winds tore through portions of Boulder County on Thursday, destroying hundreds of homes and other structures.

The Boulder County fires are contained, but the devastation will reverberate for years to come. It's never too early to start planning for the next disaster, says Micki Trost, chief spokeswoman for the Colorado Division of Emergency Management.
