Researchers have discovered that the ancient Anasazi people living in Mesa Verde constructed elaborate reservoirs and canals to capture runoff and store water. Ken Wright of Wright Water Engineers in Denver led the research and wrote about it in his book, Water for the Anasazi: How the Ancients of Mesa Verde Engineered Public Works.
